The Villa

This over 200 hundred year old barn is turned into a luxurious villa which accommodates maximum 16 adults, but is also perfectly equipped for multiple families with children. The villa exists out of two wings which are connected, both with living room and kitchen which gives you the option to have a bit more privacy. The main house has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 4 toilets and a large open kitchen which the heart of the house, the "gite" has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and 1 toilet. In the summer season the two sides are always rented out together. In other months, it's also possible to just rent the gîte.

The house is surrounded by 10 hectares (100.000 m2) of forest and grasslands which creates total privacy, and the option to have an active walk and spot wildlife in your backyard. If you prefer to enjoy the sunny terrace with a glass of wine, with a bit of luck you will spot a deer from there as well.

Kitchens

In the center of the house is large kitchen, with a dining table that can easily fit 10 people. Outside the summer season the AGA is switched on 24 hours a day and is used for cooking, while giving a nice warmth to the room. In the summer months this part of the AGA is switched off. But for the summer time the AGA has an electic stove with 4 burners and 2 electric ovens. Furthermore the kitchen is well equiped with a double American fridge with ice-cube machine and cooled filtered water, a toaster, a hand mixer, pots and pans in all sizes, all kinds of baking tools including a KitchenAid and of course sharp kitchen knifes.

Between the main house and the gite is a large pantry, with an extra fridge and freezer and room to keep coats, boots/shoes, outside toys etc. A large open BBQ is available and can be used with both coal as well as wood.

The gite has a separate kitchen, with basic equipment, but also containing an elektric stove with oven, a fridge and a dishwasher.

Garden

The house is surrounded by a large terrace and a beautiful garden which is maintained by our gardener every Friday. The outside dining table can fit 16 people and can be covered by one large patio umbrella. Besides the large table there is a smaller outside table with chairs and umbrella and a very nice sitting area on the veranda. Furthermore there are six sun loungers and two relaxing chairs to make your stay as confortable as possible.

Along the driveway down to the house you find several fruit trees, providing fresh fruits for direct consumption or perfect for some homemade jam. The harvest period ranges roughly from May to September, starting with the cherries, then mirabelles, prunes, figs, apples, pears and quinces. Besides the fruit you can find hazelnuts, wallnuts and chanterelles around the house and in the forest. During most part of the year there is an abundance of fresh rosemary, sage and some other herbs.

5o meters from the house there are some garages and a shed where we keep gardening appliances, bikes, the ping pong table, tools, and this is also where we stack our wood for the winter.

Activities in and around the house

The main attraction in the summer months is the pool. It is non-heated and open from May until September. The pool has two areas, the first part is great for smaller kids and has a depth of 0,80-1,00m. The second part is deaper 1,80-2,20m. Next to the terras is the petanque court (incl Obut balls) and you can find the Ping pong table in the garage. Some other games include jeu de palet, darts and cups, but also there are badminton rackets, frisbees and footballs.

For colder days there is a varity of indoor entertainment like board games, puzzles, card games, books and a DVD collection.

The forest that belongs to the property offers a nice easy walk of 10-30 min, but also a more challanging one including some climbing which will takes around 45 minutes.

Facilities

In the main house there is a large laundry room with washing machine, dryer, ironing board and a sink. In addition to this another washing machine and dryer are available in the kitchen of the gite. Both kitchen have multiple (tea) towels and cleaning tools and products incl dishwashing tablets.

In the pantry we have separate waste containers and compost heap outside for biodegradables.
